Welcome to the UNESEX mailing list!
UNESEX is a cross-disciplinary research grouping focused on the cultural aspects of sexuality. It aims to foster intellectual exchange and research project activity between academics and professional individuals/institutions within and across regional and urban Australia. The group is particularly interested in developing 'interpretive' accounts of human sexuality informed by work in the humanities and social sciences. A key directive of the group is the improvement of community equity and inclusivity through a greater appreciation of sexual diversity. The research interests of the group include: historical approaches and historical accounts of sexuality, theories of gender and sexuality, psychoanalytical approaches to sexuality, reproductive health, sexuality in popular culture and sex work.
The primary purpose of the mailing list is to improve communications among sexuality researchers by providing a network contacts throughout the UNE and wider community. UNESEX welcomes participation in this list from any individuals or groups interested in human sexuality. In accord with the broader aims of UNESEX, it is anticipated that the list will help facilitate multidisciplinary research into social, cultural and historical aspects of human sexual behaviour.
Importantly, it is the intention of UNESEX that this list facilitate a greater appreciation of sexual diversity through a broad dissemination of research outcomes which will improve knowledge and skills and inform policy.
